Activity

Working at University of Aveiro, Physics Department, since 1974, has carried out research, teaching and knowledge transfer activities related to Semiconductor Physics. Is a Full Professor in Physics since 1988.
As a visiting scholar has also carried out research activities in several other countries in Europe and worldwide, namely England, USA (Lehigh University) and Mozambique.
 
Management and participation in over 20 research programmes at National, European and World level. Successful supervision of post-docs, PhD and master students. Over 70 papers published in scientific Journals. More than 200 communications to International Scientific Conferences. Editor of the book Properties, Growth and Application of Diamond, from IEE - INSPEC.
Higher Education Policy and Management has been the major focus of activity since 1992, with special interest in governance (system and institutional level), regional development and the interregional dialogue. Several papers, concerning these issues, presented at International Symposia, Workshops and Conferences.
 
Chair/team member of several EUA-IEP evaluations of Universities in Spain, Turkey, Palestine and Slovenia.
Member of the EUA Contact group for the Review of the Turkish Higher Education System (2009).
Member of the ENQA review panel of the Agency for Quality Assurance in the Galician University System (2009).
